Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has reported on wars and natural disasters for nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of people who live in these places. Curry has reported from the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry is a journalist anchorperson on television and reporter who was born in 1956. Her best-known role on Today, a National Broadcasting Co. morning news broadcasted program. Curry was noted especially for her work on reporting the humanitarian crisis in war-ravaged nations and natural disasters. Curry was born in Japan, and raised by her Japanese mother. Her father was a U.S. Navy sailor. Her father dated the mother of her in Japan while he was stationed in Japan following World War II. Due to her father's service in the military and the frequent moves they made. Curry completed her high schooling at Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 in 1978 from her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. The exposure she received to a variety of cultures and experiences throughout her childhood probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to issues of international significance. Curry could not be a student at a particular school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon, or Virginia during the two-year period because her family was constantly moving. Her final graduation was from Ashland high school. In Medford the following year, she began her career in broadcasting at KTVL Channel 10 as an intern. When she was 22 she was the first reporter to be female at KTVL. After that, she moved into the role of anchor and reporter for KGW, the NBC affiliate station located in Portland. She moved back into Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. She received 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
